60th Ain't Bad
Recently, the American Institute of Architecture sponsored a Harris Interactive survey to find America's 150 most beloved buildings. Thorncrown Chapel came in 60th. We placed ahead of places like the Crystal Cathedral, the Guggenheim Museum, and Yankee Stadium. Not bad for a small building in the middle of the Ozarks.
The Empire State Building was first followed by the White House and the Washington National Cathedral. To view the entire list, click here.

Congratulations!
I cannot think of a building I like more than Thorncrown. I have scanned the 59 ranked above it, and, although I do like some of them quite a bit, I am sure that I would rank none of them ahead of Thorncrown. So, im my mind, Thorncrown is not Number 60, but Number 1.
John,
We think so too, but we are glad you said it. :)
Thorncrown Chapel IS a very special place. It has been several years since I've been there, but the peace and serenity that envelope you as soon as you walk in is amazing! I have a sister who died in an accident last July and this was one of her special places when she visited Arkansas. My brother found this blog and has passed it on to the other siblings. Thank you so much for this posting!
Teresa, Thank you for your very kind words. God bless!
